SOPP & SON CHEVROLET ON BID NO. 1391 FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO PASSENGER SEDAN VEHICLES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A VEHICLE PURCHASE CONTRACT AND THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER RESPECTING SAID BID WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need of two new passenger sedans and one sports utility vehicle to replace unit Nos. 44, 50 and 42 and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 7462 adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon on December 21, 1999, the City Clerk was directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the purchase of a two new passenger sedans in accordance with a Bid Proposal (Bid No. 1391); and WHEREAS, the Bid Proposal (Bid No. 1391) of the City of Vernon was approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to Resolution No. 7462, and sealed bids were opened on January 24, 2000; and WHEREAS, the following bids were received on Bid No. 1391: Maurice J. Sopp & Son Chevrolet bid a total of Forty -One Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars and Fifty Cents ($41,784.50); Greenwood Auto Center bid a total of Forty -Five Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty - Three Dollars and Forty -Six Cents ($45,723.46); and Felix Chevrolet bid a total of Forty -Six Thousand Seventy -Seven Dollars and Seventy Cents ($46,077.70); and 1 WHEREAS, said bids were reviewed and approved by the Police 2 Department; and 3 WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City Clerk, 4 by letter dated February 8, 2000, recommended that Bid No. 1391 be 5 awarded to Maurice J. Sopp & Son Chevrolet, the lowest responsible 6 bidder meeting the requirements of Bid No. 1391. 7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 8 OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 9 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 10 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true 11 and correct. 12 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 13 awards Bid No. 1391 to Maurice J. Sopp & Son Chevrolet and accepts and 14 approves the Vehicle Purchase Contract, a copy of which has been 15 presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolution, and 16 the City Council hereby orders said Contract to be received and filed 17 by the City Clerk. 18 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 19 20 authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the Vehicle Purchase 21 Contract on behalf of the City and authorizes the issuance of a 22 purchase order for the purchase of two passenger sedan vehicles 23 pursuant to Bid No. 1391. 24 SECTION 4: All other bids in connection with Bid No. 1391 are 25 rejected, subject to execution of the aforesaid contract documents, and 26 the City Treasurer is hereby directed to return to any unsuccessful 27 bidders any cashier or certified checks which may have been deposited 28 with said bids, upon receipt of the executed contract documents from - 2 - ' � d 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 Maurice J. Sopp & Son Chevrolet, accompanied by all required certificates. SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
