RESOLUTION NO. 7517
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO MAKE AND
DELIVER A CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION TO COUNCIL MEMBERS
HILARIO GONZALES AND WILLIAM DAVIS AND TO ADMINISTER
THE OATH OF OFFICE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon by Resolution
No. 7481 on February 1, 2000, appointed Hilario Gonzales and William
Davis members of the City Council to serve a term of four (4) years
pursuant to Section 2.90 of the Vernon City Code; and
WHEREAS, the General Municipal Election scheduled for
April 11, 2000, was thereafter cancelled; and
WHEREAS, Section 10229 of the Elections Code provides, in
part, as follows:
"The person appointed, if any, shall qualify and
take office and serve exactly as if elected at a
municipal election for the office."
and
WHEREAS, Section 10265 of the Elections Code requires that the
City Clerk sign and deliver a Certificate of Election to each person
elected and administer the oath of office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver
to Hilario Gonzales and William Davis a Certificate of Election signed
by the City Clerk and duly authenticated.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk shall administer to Hilario
Gonzales and William Davis the oath of office prescribed in the State
Constitution of the State of California and shall have them

subscribe thereto and file the same in the office of the City Clerk,
whereupon, Mr. Gonzales and Mr. Davis. shall be inducted into the
respective office to which they have been elected.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
