RESOLUTION NO. 7529
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND RATIFYING THE EXECUTION OF A
LETTER AGREEMENT FOR WATER SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
VERNON DURING THE EXTENDED OUTAGE ON A PORTION OF
THE PALOS VERDES FEEDER DUE TO THE ALAMEDA CORRIDOR
PROJECT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON, THE
CENTRAL BASIN MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT, AND THE
METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon is located within the Central
JBasin Municipal Water District; and
WHEREAS, the Central Basin Municipal Water District is a
member agency of the Metropolitan Water District ("MWD") and provides
water service to the City of Vernon through the MWD; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda Corridor Project will require the MWD to
relocate a portion of the 51" Palos Verdes Feeder; and
WHEREAS, Service Connection CENB-38 of the Palos Verdes Feeder
that supplies water service to the City of Vernon will be out of
service for approximately four to five months due to the Alameda
Corridor Project; and
WHEREAS, the MWD has submitted a letter agreement that will
allow the City of Vernon to purchase "Non -Interruptible Water" during
the summer months at Seasonable Storage Rates and to supplement its
emergency backup supplies, thereby insuring that Vernon will not suffer
any losses either financially or in water supplies during the extended
water outage; and
WHEREAS, the MWD requested that encroachment permits for the
bulkheads be issued immediately in order to meet the deadline imposed

by the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority and, therefore, the
City Administrator executed said Letter Agreement subject to
ratification by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve and ratify the
Letter Agreement as executed by the City Administrator.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
Iland correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and ratifies the Letter Agreement, a copy of which has been
presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolution, and
the City Council hereby orders said Letter Agreement to be received and
filed by the City Clerk.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
ratifies the execution of the Letter Agreement by the City
Administrator for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
