A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON REAFFIRMING THE AMENDMENT OF RESOLUTION NO.
5946 WHICH ESTABLISHED A GAS MUNICIPAL UTILITY
DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF VERNON
WHEREAS, on June 20, 1991, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 5946 which established a Gas Municipal
Utility Department within the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, by Salary Resolution Nos. 7165, 7359 and 7562
adopted on June 25, 1998, June 29, 1999, and June 27, 2000,
respectively, the City Council of the City of Vernon expressed its
intention to amend Resolution No. 5946 to provide for the
incorporation of the Gas Municipal Utility Department in the Utilities
Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has recommended that the intended
amendment to Resolution No. 5946 contained in Salary Resolution Nos.
7165, 7359 and 7562 be reaffirmed in a separate resolution for
purposes of clarity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
amends Section 2 of Resolution No. 5946 to read as follows:
"The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby incorporates
the Gas Municipal Utility Department into the Utilities Department and
appoints the City Administrator/City Clerk to be the Chief Executive

Officer of said Utilities Department. The Gas Municipal Utility
Department should be incorporated and become a part of the Utilities
Department of the City of Vernon."
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
amends Resolution No. 5946 so that all references in the Resolution to
the Gas Municipal Utility Department should be deemed to mean the
Utilities Department of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4: The provisions of Resolution No. 5946 not
consistent with or in conflict with this resolution are hereby
repealed; in all other respects, Resolution No. 5946 shall remain in
full force and effect.
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
