RESOLUTION NO. 7651
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON REJECTING THE BID RECEIVED FOR CONTRACT NO.
555 OF THE CITY OF VERNON FOR VERNON GAS
DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM, REPLACEMENT OF GAS MAIN
COUPLING
WHEREAS, on or about September 5, 2000, the City Council of
the City of Vernon authorized an advertisement for bids for Contract
No. 555 for Vernon Gas Distribution System, Replacement of Gas Main
Couplings; and
WHEREAS, one bid was received in response to said
advertisement for an amount in excess of the Department's estimate; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon, pursuant to
Section 2.27 of the Code of the City of Vernon, finds and determines
that it is in the public interest and necessity that said bid be
rejected and that the City procure such services by negotiated
agreement without further compliance with the procedures set forth in
the City's Purchasing Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
rejects the bid received for Contract No. 555 for the Vernon Gas
Distribution System, Replacement of Gas Main Couplings, in connection
with the Gas Construction Project and orders that such services be
procured by negotiated agreement without further compliance with the
Purchasing Ordinance; as permitted by Section 2.27 of the Code of the
City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of October, 2000.
