A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 548 (JANUARY 1,
4 2001-DECEMBER 31, 2001) BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF
VERNON AND JOE'S SWEEPING, INC., DBA NATIONWIDE
5 ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

7 WHEREAS, Contract No. 548, Street Sweeping 1999, was awarded
8 to Joe's Sweeping, Inc., dba Nationwide Environmental Services
9 (`Nationwide") by Resolution No. 7229 on November 3, 1998; and
10 WHEREAS, the contract provides for annual cost increases
11 based on the Consumer Price Index and for annual extensions thereof;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, an extension of the contract was previously approved

14 by Resolution No. 7435 on November 2, 1999, and the Consumer Price
i
15 Index adjustment for that period was included; and
16 WHEREAS, Contract No. 548 will expire on December 31, 2000,
17 unless extended and Nationwide has requested a one year extension of
18 the contract with a cost increase; and
19 WHEREAS, the Director of Community Services & Water, by
20 letter dated November 8, 2000, has recommended that the contract be
21 extended and has verified that Nationwide is eligible for an increase
22 based on the Consumer Price Index.
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
24 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
25 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
26 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
27 and correct.
28 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby

approves the Extension of Contract No. 548, a copy of which is
attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said Extension for,
and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
directs the City Clerk, or his designee, to send one fully executed
Extension to:
Nationwide Environmental Services
Division of Joe's Sweeping, Inc.
Attn: Never Samuelian

Norwalk, CA 90650
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon'shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

Contract No. 548, Street Sweeping 1999, entered into by and

between the City of Vernon and Joe's Sweeping, Inc., dba Nationwide
4
Environmental Services, is hereby extended for a one (1) year period
5
from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2001, according to the section on
6
"Contract Extension" in the Special Provisions of said Contract.

According to the section on "Compensation" in the Special
8
Provisions of said Contract, Joe's Sweeping, Inc., dba Nationwide
9
Environmental Services, is granted a price adjustment in accordance
10
with the Consumer Price Index for January 1 to December 31, 2001, at
11
seventy-five percent (75%) of such Consumer Price Index, which
12
adjustment will be determined when the index changes are issued.
13
In all other respects, the terms and conditions of Contract
14
No. 54811 Street Sweeping 1999, shall remain in full force and effect.
15
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this
16
Extension to be executed as of this day of November, 2000, in
17
the City of Vernon, California.
