A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING
SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEW
4 FORD CROWN VICTORIA LX FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

6 WHEREAS., the Fire Department is in need of a new Ford Crown
7 Victoria LX to replace the existing Fire Chief's vehicle; and
g WHEREAS, on November 14, 2000, the Finance Committee approved
9 the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
10 dated November 8, 2000, that authority be granted for the Purchasing
11 Agent, or his designee, to seek formal bids for the purchase of a new
12 Ford Crown Victoria LX at an approximate cost of Twenty -Seven Thousand
13 Six Hundred Dollars and No Cents ($27,600.00) for the vehicle (without
14 tax); and
15 WHEREAS, a Bid Proposal for the purchase of the new Ford
16 Crown Victoria LX has been presented to the Finance Committee of the
17 City of Vernon; and
18 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
19 determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon that
20 bids be solicited in accordance with applicable State law and the
21 Vernon City Code.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
23 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
24 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
25 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
26 and correct.

I SECTION 2: The Bid Proposal, which is attached hereto and
2 made a part hereof as Exhibit "A," is hereby approved by the City
3 Council of the City of Vernon.
4 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
5 directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed proposals or bids
6 for the purchase of a new Ford Crown Victoria LX, in accordance with
7 the Bid Proposal, and in accordance with this resolution.
8 SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circulation
9 printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
10 is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause "the same to be
11 posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to
12 wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the
13 northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the
14 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon,
15 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
16 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
17 directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of said
18 notice shall be at least ten (10) days before the opening of the bids
19 for the proposed contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed
20 proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office
21 of the City Clerk, or his designee, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe
22 Avenue, Vernon, CA 90058-0805.

SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, ,and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

2001 Ford Crown Victoria: Specifications
Description: Passenger, Sedan, 4 Door
The vehicle shall conform in all respects to the State of California Vehicle Code. The unit
shall be delivered assembled and ready to operate. All equipment normally furnished as
standard shall be included, whether called for by this specifciltion or not, except where
replaced by equipment required by this specification. All equipment specified is considered
minimum.
General Requirements: The vehicle shall be a new Curren: model year production and
equivalent in style, quality and appointments to those offered to the general public. The
vehicle shall be supplied with all equipment and accessories indicated as standard
equipment in the manufacturer's published literature,

Electrical: Supplier shall, furnish a heavy duty 12 volt system designed to
handle the load requirements of tf:e vehicle. The battery
shall be a maintenance free, 72 arip type.
