RESOLUTION NO. 7742
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE 2001 FORD
F350 UTILITY TRUCK BY JOINING ON THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES,
PROCUREMENT DIVISION CONTRACT NO. 1-01-23-20
AWARDED TO FOLSOM LAKE FORD
WHEREAS, the Fire Department of the City of Vernon has
advised that it needs to purchase a utility vehicle to replace Unit #4
which is over 30 years old; and
WHEREAS, local agencies are sometimes offered the
opportunity to join with federal, state or county agencies in bid
awards to reap the same monetary benefit; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of General
Services, Procurement Division, sent out a list.of vehicles available
for purchase pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 10324; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been given the opportunity
to purchase one 2001 Ford F350 utility vehicle with additional
options, as more particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto
and made a part hereof, from Folsom Lake Ford by participating in the
State of California, Department of General Services, Procurement
Division's awarded vehicle Contract No. 1-01-23-20; and
WHEREAS, on April 10, 2001, the Finance Committee approved
the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
dated April 5, 2001, that a new utility vehicle be purchased at an
approximate cost of Thirty Thousand One Hundred Dollars and No Cents
($30,100.00)(including tax).

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to purchase the 2001
Ford F350 utility vehicle by issuance of a purchase order and
authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to sign and deliver
any and all documents necessary in connection therewith for, and on
behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of April, 2001.

Attached for your approval is requisition #08544. The Fire Department is requesting
replacement of Utility truck #4, which was in service for over 30 years and due to being no
longer operable it was declared as surplus.
The new replacement requested is a model year 2001 Ford F-350 /Cab & Chassis. Through
a bidding process, the State of California Department of General Services Procurement
Division awarded a state contract #1-01-23-20 to Folsom Lake Ford for this type of vehicle.
The City may piggyback on to this contract. The awarded unit base price is $22,064.00 FOB
Los Angeles (tax not included).
The Fire Department's specifications request a diesel engine versus a gasoline, which was
quoted on the contract. The additional amount for the diesel engine is $4,413.20. In addition,
the department is requesting Alcoa aluminum rims to match the other units, 4.10 rear axle
ratio/limited slip and a heavy-duty suspension system (required options for a utility truck). The
extra cost for these options is $1,188.00, $267.30 and $117.70 respectively. All upgrades
reflect a 10% markup from the dealer's price.
The total approximate cost is $30� 294.22 (sales tax included). The vendor allows a $506.00
discount net twenty days. The State's service charge for use of the contract is 1 %` of the
purchase order total before tax or cash discount ($280.50).
