Resolution No. 78721 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 RESOLUTION NO. 7872 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 2002 FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CITY OF VERNON CHARTER WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Charter of the City of Vernon, a General Municipal Election shall be held on April 9, 2002, for the election of Municipal Officers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Pursuant to the requirements of the Charter of Ithe City of Vernon, there is called and ordered to be held in the City of Vernon, California, on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, a General Municipal Election for the purposes of electing three (3) Members of the City Council for the full term of four years. SECTION 2: The ballots to be used at the election shall be in a form and content as required by law. SECTION 3: The City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. SECTION 4: Pursuant to Section 4000 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the election will be conducted entirely by mailed absent voter ballots. Ballots may be submitted by mail or hand delivered, but must be received by the City Clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, as required by Section 4103 of the Elections Code of the State of California. The City Clerk's office at 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19' 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Vernon shall remain open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election day. SECTION 5: In all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. SECTION 6: Notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the election, in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 7: The City Clerk is directed to forward without delay to the County Election Department a certified copy of this resolution at the following address: Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Los Angeles County 12400 E. Imperial Highway Norwalk, CA 90650 SECTION 8: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
