RESOLUTION NO. 7890
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE CHEVROLET
TAHOE SPORT UTILITY TRUCK AND ONE GMC SAVANA VAN BY
JOINING ON THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF
GENERAL SERVICES, PROCUREMENT DIVISION CONTRACT NO.
1-02-23-20 AWARDED TO MAITA CHEVROLET AND JAMISON
AUTO CENTER
WHEREAS, April 4, 2001, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7737 approving the solicitation of bids
for the purchase of a new Chevrolet S10 Blazer surveillance vehicle
for the Police Department, Detective Bureau; and
WHEREAS, local agencies are sometimes offered the
opportunity to join with federal, state or county agencies in bid
awards to reap the same monetary benefit; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of General
Services, Procurement Division, sent out a list of vehicles available
for purchase pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 10324; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been given the opportunity
to purchase one 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe Sport Utility Vehicle, the
equivalent to the Chevrolet S10 Blazer, from Maita Chevrolet by
participating in the State of California, Department of General
Services, Procurement Division's awarded vehicle Contract No. 1-02-23-
2 0 ; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been given the opportunity
to purchase one 2002 GMC Savana Van, from Jamison Auto Center by
participating in the State of California, Department of General
Services, Procurement Division's awarded vehicle Contract No. 1-02-23-
20; and
1 WHEREAS, on January 8, 2002, the Finance Committee
2 recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of Bruce
3 V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated January 2, 2002, that a
4 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe Sport Utility Vehicle be purchased at an
5 approximate cost of Twenty -Five Thousand Four Hundred Twenty -Four
6 Dollars and No Cents ($25,424.00) plus tax; and
7 WHEREAS, on January 8, 2002, the Finance Committee
8 recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of Bruce
9 V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated January 2, 2002, that a
10 2002 GMC Savana Van be purchased at an approximate cost of Twenty
11 Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety -Five Dollars and No Cents ($20,795.00)
12 plus tax.
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
14 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
15 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
16 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
17 and correct.
18 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
19 authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to purchase the 2002
20 Chevrolet Tahoe Sport Utility Vehicle and 2002 GMC Savana Van by
21 issuance of a purchase order and authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or
22 his designee, to sign and deliver any and all documents necessary in
23 connection therewith for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk
of the City of Vernon shall

certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
3
thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.

hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No.
7890, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon at an
adjourned regular meeting of the City Council duly held on Thursday,
January 10, 2002, and thereafter was duly signed by the Mayor of the
City of Vernon.
