The Community Services and Water Department is requesting to purchase
two Chevrolet pick-up trucks that are needed due to the increased
maintenance required by the fleet's existing units and to allow the
garage department to utilize two of the existing units as loaners when
vehicles are being serviced. The department will piggyback on State
Contract No. 1-02-23-20 awarded by the State of California Department
of General Services Procurement Division to Miata Chevrolet for this
purchase at a contract fee of 1% of the cost of the vehicle. Funds
were budgeted for this purchase and it is hereby recommended that a
purchase order be issued to M&jta Chevrolet for the purchase of the
both vehicles at an approximate cost of $34,657.32.
Very truly yours,
Bruce V.
Malkenhorst
Director
of Finance

Re: REQUISITION #9865
Attached for your approval is requisition #9865.The Community Services Department is
requesting purchase of Two New Chevrolet C2500 Pickups. Additional units are requested
due to the present fleet's increasing need for maintenance due to wear and tear. This results in
more down time. The additional vehicles will allow the garage to use two units as loaners
when vehicles are in for service.
The State of California Department of General Services Procurement Division awarded a state
contract #1-02-23-20 to various dealers for trucks, vans and utility vehicles. The Purchasing
Section is recommending we piggyback on to the contract. Maita Chevrolet is the awarded
vendor for the Chevrolet C2500 trucks.
The approximate cost for the two trucks with tax included to $34,657.32. Maita Chevrolet
offers a $500.00 discount net 20 days per each unit. There is a service charge paid to the State
for use of the contract, which is 1 % of the purchase order total before tax ($320.16).
The department has budgeted sufficient funds for the above purchase.
