A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO DODGE BR2500
PICKUP TRUCKS BY JOINING ON THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES,
PROCUREMENT DIVISION, CONTRACT NO. 1-02-23-20
AWARDED TO LASHER AUTO CENTER AND REPEALING
RESOLUTION NO. 7911
WHEREAS, on February 27, 2002, the City Council of the City
of Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7911 approving the purchase of two
Chevrolet C2500 Pickup Trucks from Maita Chevrolet through the State
of California, Department of General Services, Procurement Division's
awarded vehicle.Contract No. 1-02-23-20 pursuant to Public Contract
lCode Section 10324; and
WHEREAS, subsequently, staff determined that, because of a
printing error on the specifications, the wrong size trucks were
selected; and
WHEREAS, since Maita Chevrolet does not carry the size of
trucks needed, staff is requesting that two 3/ ton pickup trucks be
purchased from Lasher Auto Center, another vendor listed on State
Contract No. 01-02-23-20 meeting the Department's specifications and
requirements; and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 2002, the Finance Committee
recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of Bruce
V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated March 20, 2002, that two
Dodge BR2500 Pickup Trucks be purchased from Lasher Auto Center at an
approximate cost of Seventeen Thousand Two Hundred Eighty -One Dollars
and No Cents ($17,281.00) each or a total of Thirty -Six Thousand Four
Hundred Thirteen Dollars and Thirty -Seven Cents ($36,413.37), net

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to purchase two new
Dodge BR2500 Pickup Trucks from Lasher Auto Center by issuance of a
purchase order and authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee,
to sign and deliver any and all documents necessary in connection
therewith for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of April, 2002.

On February 27, 2002, this legislative body approved the purchase of
two pick-up trucks, Resolution No. 7911, from Maita Chevrolet for the
Community Services and Water Department. Due to printing errors on
the specifications the wrong size trucks were selected. The awarded
vendor does not carry the X ton pick-up trucks requested by the
department; therefore, a new vendor listed on the State Contract No.
01-02-23-20 was selected. It is hereby recommended that a purchase
order be issued to Lasher Auto Center for the purchase of two % ton
pick-up trucks at an approximate cost of $36,413.37 and that
Resolution No. 7911 be rescinded.

Re: REQUISITION #9865-PICKUP TRUCKS
The City Council approved purchase of two pick-up trucks for the Community Services
Department with resolution #7911. The department had requested to piggyback onto the State
of California Department of General Services Procurement Division. The vehicles requested
were for 3/4 ton pickups however, due to the printing errors (on specs) the units selected were
for 'h ton pickups.
The awarded vendor for 3/4 ton pickup trucks is Lasher Auto Center. The approximate cost for
2 units with tax included and the $500.00 discount per unit (net 20 days) is $36,413.37. The
service charge paid to the State is 1% of the purchase order total before tax ($345.62). The
total increase from the original approved amount for this purchase is $2,781.51.

The Community Services and Water Department is requesting to purchase
two Chevrolet pick-up trucks that are needed due to the increased
maintenance required by the fleet's existing units and to allow the
garage department to utilize two of the existing units as loaners when
vehicles are being serviced. The department will piggyback on State
Contract No. 1-02-23-20 awarded by the State of California Department
of General Services Procurement Division to Miata Chevrolet for this
purchase at a contract fee of 1% of the cost of the vehicle. Funds
were budgeted for this purchase and it is hereby recommended that a
purchase order be issued to M& to Chevrolet for the purchase of the
both vehicles at an approximate cost of $34,657.32.

s
