Resolution No. 7938Y y 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 7938 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: COMMUNITY SERVICES & WATER, CITY ADMINISTRATOR/CITY CLERK, FIRE, POLICE AND UTILITIES, PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code Section 2.31 and. Government Code Section 37350, the City of Vernon may sell surplus property for the common benefit; and WHEREAS, on March 26, 2002, the Finance Committee recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated March 21, 2002, that property from the following departments be declared surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are damaged, obsolete, or in poor and irreparable condition and are therefor no longer useful to the needs of. the City: 1. Community Services & Water Department, more particularly described on Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 2. City Administrator/City Clerk (Risk Management/Finance), more particularly described on Exhibit "B" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 3. Fire Department (Civil Defense), more particularly described on Exhibit "C" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 4. Police Department (Communications Center/Jail), more particularly described on Exhibit "D" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; t r s j 1 5. Utilities Department, more particularly described on 2 Exhibit "E" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by 3 reference; and 4 WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon 5 that the property described in the above -referenced Exhibits be sold as 6 surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. 7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 8 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 9 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 10 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true 11 and correct. 12 SECTION 2: In accordance with Government Code Section 37350 13 and Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, the City Council of the City 14 of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property described in 15 the attached Exhibits "A," "B," "C," "D" and "E" is surplus to the 16 needs of the City of Vernon. 17 SECTION 3: The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to 18 contract with an auction company, to obtain bids or to make other 19 arrangements for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits 20 as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. 21 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall 22 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and 23 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 24 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of April, 2002. 25 26 �Z 27 LEONIS C.
