Resolution No. 7990a 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 WE RESOLUTION NO. 7990 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO 2003 FORD CROWN VICTORIA SEDANS BY JOINING ON THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES, PROCUREMENT DIVISION, CONTRACT NO. 1-01-23-14 AWARDED TO DOWNTOWN FORD SALES WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting the purchase of two (2) 2003 Ford Crown Victoria sedans to replace Unit Nos. 36 and 37 which are older vehicles needing increased maintenance due to wear and II tear; and WHEREAS, local agencies are sometimes offered the opportunity to join with federal, state or county agencies in bid awards to reap the same monetary benefit; and WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of General Services, Procurement Division, sent out a list of vehicles available for purchase pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 10324; and WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been given the opportunity to purchase two (2) 2003 Ford Crown Victoria sedans in the Group 2, 4- door purchase package, from Downtown Ford Sales by participating in the State of California, Department of General Services, Procurement Division's awarded vehicle Contract No. 1-01-23-14; and WHEREAS, Downtown Ford Sales is allowing the City to purchase the 2003 vehicles for the 2001/2002 price offered under Contract No. 1-01-23-14; and WHEREAS, on June 13, 2002, the Finance Committee recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated June 6, 2002, that two (2) 2003 Ford Crown Victoria sedans be purchased from Downtown Ford Sales 1 at an approximate cost of Fifty -Five Thousand Four Hundred Eighty -Six 2 Dollars and Six Cents ($55,486.06) (includes sales tax and delivery 3 costs) . 4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 5 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 7 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true 8 and correct. 9 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 10 authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to purchase two (2) 11 new 2003 Ford Crown Victoria sedans from Downtown Ford Sales by 12 issuance of a purchase order and authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or 13 his designee, to sign and deliver any and all documents necessary in 14 connection therewith for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon. 15 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall 16 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and 17 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 18 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of June, 2002. 19 r 20 21 LEONIS C. These vehicles are needed to replace existing units that are approximately six (6) years old with over 90,000 miles and that will be kept as "pool" vehicles. Downtown Ford Sales is allowing the City to buy -off State Contract No. 1-01-23-14 awarded by the State of California Department of General Services Procurement Division, which lapsed on April 2002. The approximate cost for the two units is $55,486.06; funds were budgeted for the amount of $54,600; however, the additional funds necessary are available. It is hereby recommended that a purchase order be issued to Downtown Ford Sales for the purchase of two 2003 Ford Crown Victoria Sedans at an approximate cost of $55,486.06. V Date: 6/6/2002 Re: POLICE DEPARTMENT REQUISITION #1851 Attached for your approval is requisition #1851. The Police Department is requesting to purchase (2) 2003 FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE SEDANS and (1) SHOP MANUAL for the Patrol Division. The requested units are replacing units #36 and #37. The existing units are approximately (6) years old with over 90000 miles. These units will be converted into pool cars. The existing internal communication and safety equipment in these vehicles will be extracted, and placed int "the requested units. The dealer for this purchase is Downtown Ford Sales. The state contract #1-01-23- 14 lapsed as of April, 2002, however, this dealership is allowing the city to buy off the contrabt. The vendor offered four purchase packages. The department has selected Group 2 with the (4) doors. The approximate cost is $55,486.06 (cost includes sales tax and delivery costs). Funds were specifically budgeted in the amount of $54,600 for this purchase, however, Lt. Steve Towles advised Purchasing that adequate funds are available to cover the additional cost.
