1. . 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 PAIR 24 25 26 27 RESOLUTION NO. 8041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: COMMUNITY SERVICES AND WATER, FIRE, POLICE AND UTILITIES, PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code Section 2.31 and Government Code Section 37350, the City of Vernon may sell surplus property for the common benefit; and WHEREAS, on August 20, 2002, the Finance Committee recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated August 7, 2002, that property from the following departments be declared surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are damaged, obsolete, or in poor and irreparable condition and are therefor no longer useful to the needs of the City: 1. Community Services and Water Department (Warehouse/Garage), more particularly described on Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 2. Fire Department, more particularly described on Exhibit "B" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 3. Police Department, more particularly described on Exhibit "C" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 4. Utilities Department, more particularly described on Exhibit "D" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and 28II WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 that the property described in the above -referenced Exhibits be sold as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: In accordance with Government Code Section 37350 and Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property described in the attached Exhibits "A," "B," "C" and "D" is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon. SECTION 3: The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to contract with an auction company, to obtain bids or to make other arrangements for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
