At this time, the Director of Utilities is requesting that a new position be created, Electric Service Planner Trainee, and establish a one-step salary scale, Step 1 $3,442.00, to allow the department to train a potential candidate. This has been reviewed by staff and it is hereby recommended that an amendment to Resolution No. 8007 be approved to incorporate the new position and establish a one-step salary of $3,442.00. Very truly yours, Bruce V. Malkenhorst Director of Finance BVM/gm CONFIDENTIAL November 6, 2002 TO: Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator FROM: Kenneth J. DeDario, Director of Utilities 1<91t- SUBJECT: Electric Service Planner Per our conversation, following is a discussion concerning the open Electric Service Planner position. We have advertised for this position for a period of time and have been unable to find a well -qualified candidate to fill the position. Therefore, I believe the organization will be better served by training an existing employee. I also believe that Jose Ortiz Villa, Information Technology Specialist II, is very capable of performing all of the requirements of this position with the proper training, which should take approximately one year, and will likely be a valuable long-time Vernon employee. To accomplish this, I recommend the following effective December 1, 2002: • create an Electric Service Planner Trainee position and • reclassify Jose Ortiz Villa, Information Technology Specialist II, Step 9 to Electric Service Planner Trainee, Step 1 (See attachment). If you have any questions or comments, please contact me. Thank you for your consideration. KJD:dm Attachment f o ..
