Currently the department has been using salvaged Police vehicles that have been refurbished and have been used as pool cars. Recently the Purchasing Section awarded Bid No. 1422 to Sopp Chevrolet for the purchase of one Chevrolet Blazer for the Police Department; Sopp Chevrolet is allowing the City to piggyback on this bid for this new purchase. The Community Services and Water Department budgeted $40,000.00 for this purchase; however, additional funds are available. It is hereby recommended that the two Chevrolet Blazers be purchased from Sopp Chevrolet at an approximate cost of $43,570.50 for both vehicles. Very truly yours, Bruce V. Malkenhorst Director of Finance BVM/gm Memo To: Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator '' From: Dolores Fonseca, Purchasing Assistant, Date: 2/3/2003 Re: REQUISITION #2913 Attached for your approval is requisition #2913. The Community Services Department is requesting purchase of two new Chevrolet Blazers for the Building Department Staff. In the past the department has been using salvaged Police vehicles as pool cars. For the last several years, the Police Department has refurbished many of their units for further use by their department. This has diminished the potential transfer of these units into reliable pool cars. Therefore, the Community Services department is requesting two new units for its fleet. The Purchasing section recently awarded bid #1422 to Sopp Chevrolet for one Chevrolet Blazer to be used by Police Department. Sopp Chevrolet will allow the City to piggy back on to this bid The bid price per unit is $21,758.25 (tax included). The total amount for two Chevrolet Blazers is $43,570.50. The department budgeted $40,000.00 for the additions. The department initially budgeted for two sedans, however after further reexamination has requested utility type vehicles which will better suit their needs. The department will submit a memo requesting transfer of funds in the amount of $4,000 from account number 011-1041- 88500 to account number 175-7543-88400 to cover the overage. 0 Page 1 - r -c OF vER O y •Ol1A. 4 mVFLY INOJ COMMUNITY SERVICES & WATER DEPARTMENT OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: Bruce Malkenhorst, City Administrator FROM: Kevin Wilsonirector of Community Services DATE: January 20, 2003 SUBJECT: Vehicle Purchase The Community Services Department has budgeted for two vehicles for the building department staff. Many of the current vehicles that the department operates are salvaged police vehicles. Unfortunately, the police department has gone to refurbishing their vehicles before turning them over to our department. The increased mileage and wear and tear that they are putting on the vehicles make them unreliable for our purposes. Therefore, the Community Services department is requesting that the City purchase two vehic s for the building department. The ' Ah ` r beurg re l ed will , 1 r r c A-5 w E; dk o no A cles i-0 rei-, re asp are., w. The police department is in the process of purchasing a Chevrolet blazer. Bids have been received and the low bidder was Sopp Chevrolet at $21,758.25 including tax. Sopp Chevrolet has advised the City that they would allow us to piggyback on this bid for the purchase of our vehicles. The department has $40,000.00 in the budget for the purchase of two vehicles. Originally, the department envisioned purchasing sedans to use as vehicles for the inspection team. However, a sport utility type vehicle would better suit their needs. It is recommended that $4,000 be transferred from account number 011-1041-88500 to account number 175-7543-88400 to cover the additional cost.
