RESOLUTION NO. 8273
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 7566 AND
REAFFIRMING RESOLUTION NO. 5946 WHICH ESTABLISHED A
GAS MUNICIPAL UTILITY DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF
VERNON
WHEREAS, on June 20, 1991, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 5946 which established a Gas Municipal
Utility Department within the City of Vernon and appointed the City
Administrator as the Chief Executive officer of that Department; and
WHEREAS, on July 11, 2000, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7566 providing for the incorporation of
the Gas Municipal Utility Department into the Utilities Department and
appointed the City Administrator as the Chief Executive Officer of the
Utilities Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that it is necessary for
the Gas Municipal Utility Department to be separated from the
Utilities Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
land correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
rescinds Resolution No. 7566.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
reaffirms Resolution No. 5946 which established the City of Vernon Gas
Municipal Utilities Department and appointed the City Administrator as

the Chief Executive Officer of that Department.
SECTION 4: The provisions of Resolution Nos. 5946 shall
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5: The City Administrator shall continue as the
Chief Executive Officer of the Light and Power Department, formerly
known as the Utilities Department.
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
