RESOLUTION NO. 8290
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE 2003 FORD
F250 XL SUPER CAB PICK-UP TRUCK FOR THE LIGHT&
POWER DEPARTMENT BY JOINING ON THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES,
PROCUREMENT DIVISION, CONTRACT NO. 1-03-23-20
AWARDED TO DOWNTOWN FORD SALES
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of General
Services, Procurement Division, entered into Contract No. 1-03-23-20
with Downtown Ford Sales for the provision of special service vehicles
to local agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department determined from Bob
Riola, the State Contract Administrator, that, if an authorized dealer
still had vehicles available, said vehicles could be purchased under
Contract No. 1-03-23-20; and
WHEREAS, the Light & Power Department is requesting the
purchase of one (1) 2003 Ford F250 XL Super Cab, Long Bed, 4x2 Pick-up
Truck to replace Unit No. 1004 which is an older vehicle needing
increased maintenance due to wear and tear; and
WHEREAS, Downtown Ford Sales has one (1) 2003 Ford F250 XL
Super Cab, Long Bed, 4x2 Pick-up Truck with certain options (XL decor
group, full wheel covers, telescoping trailer mirrors and trailer
receiver hitch) that approximates one of the vehicles listed under
Contract No. 1-03-23-20; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been given the opportunity
to purchase the vehicle from Downtown Ford Sales under Contract No. 1-
03-23-20; and
WHEREAS, on September 23, 2003, the Finance Committee

considered the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of
Finance, dated September 18, 2003, that one (1) 2003 Ford F250 XL
Super Cab, Long Bed, 4x2 Pick-up Truck be purchased from Downtown Ford
Sales at an approximate cost of Twenty Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty -
Three Dollars and Seventy -Nine Cents ($20,723.79) (includes sales tax,
delivery costs and tire fees), plus any applicable service charge
payable to the General Services Department and less any applicable
discounts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
land correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to purchase one (1)
2003 Ford F250 XL Super Cab, Long Bed, 4x2 Pick-up Truck plus options
from Downtown Ford Sales by issuance of a purchase order and
authorizes the Purchasing Agent, or his designee, to sign and deliver
any and all documents necessary in connection therewith for, and on
behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
