Resolution No. 82931 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 8293 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 586 FOR THE HOLLYDALE PUMP STATION AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Vernon Contract No. 586 for the Hollydale Pump Station; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Vernon that said contract be advertised in accordance with applicable State law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: Contract No. 586, Hollydale Pump Station, is hereby approved and accepted by the City Council of the City of Vernon. SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to file in his office at the City Hall of the City of Vernon a copy of said contract. SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed proposals or bids for the Hollydale Pump Station in accordance with Contract No. 586 and in accordance with this resolution. 1 2 3 4 5 6, 7 8' 9I 10 Ili 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 SECTION 5: There being no newspaper of general circulation printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City. SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of said notice shall be not less than ten (10) days before the opening of the bids for the proposed contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office of the City Clerk of the City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, CA 90058-0805, until the hour of 2:00 p.m. on the 18th day of November 2003. OLSON Police Chief FAX: (323) 826-1481 Contract No. 586 U?? 0,11, The City of Vernon and the Central Basin Municipal Water District are cooperating to construct a pump station to provide additional capacity to the existing recycled water system and to provide recycled water to the City of Vernon and specifically to the new Malburg Generating Station. The plans and specifications were drawn by Tetra -Tech, Inc. under contract with the City of Vernon and have been approved by the City Attorney for the advertisement for bids. The project consists of a pump station located in the City of South Gate that will boost the pressure and add volume to the recycled water system. The pump station is in the City of South Gate to optimize the effect on the operation of the system. The City of Vernon has secured the cooperation of the City of South Gate and will coordinate the construction with them. The pump station will be constructed in the first part of 2004 and will provide the additional capacity to the recycled water system to meet the requirements of the water needs of the Malburg Generating Station. The project will be administered by the City of Vernon and will be managed and inspected by the Central Basin Municipal Water District who will be the eventual owner of the facility. The Engineers estimate for the project is $1,096,475.00. Herewith for your consideration is Contract No. 586, Hollydale Pump Station.
