RESOLUTION NO. 8295
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE REALLOCATION OF REVENUE
GENERATED BY PROPOSITION A OF 1992 TO THE CITIES OF
BELL, LYNWOOD AND MAYWOOD FOR MAINTAINING AND
SERVICING PROPOSITION A FUNDED PROJECTS
WHEREAS, Los Angeles .County taxpayers approved Propositions A
of 1992 and 1996, which provide funds to incorporated cities of Los
Angeles for maintaining and servicing Proposition A funded projects;
and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space
District has been delegated the responsibility for the administration
of the program within the County and to set up necessary procedures
governing applications by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been allocated funds under
Proposition A, but does not have a current program for developing
facilities for public recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Bell, Lynwood and Maywood have parks
and recreation facilities and have communicated that they are willing
to accept the funds allocated to the City of Vernon and use them for
maintaining and servicing Proposition A funded projects which will
benefit residents of all surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County has authorized the transfer of
funds allocated to the City of Vernon under Proposition A to
neighboring communities; and
WHEREAS, by letter dated October 6, 2003, Bruce V.
Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City Clerk, has recommended that
Vernon's allocation of revenue generated by Proposition A be

reallocated to the aforementioned cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes Los Angeles County to pay a portion of the City of Vernon's
allocation of Proposition A funds to the following cities, in the
amounts designated, for use in the maintenance and servicing of
Proposition A funded projects:
a. City of Bell, Five Thousand Dollars and No Cents
($5,000.00);
b. City of Lynwood, Ten Thousand Dollars and No Cents
($10,000.00); and
C. City of Maywood, Fifteen Thousand Dollars and No Cents
($15,000.00).
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
directs the City Clerk, or his designee, to send a certified copy of
this Resolution to:

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
