RESOLUTION NO. 8398
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING SCHEDULE II, EXHIBIT "B," PAGES 2,
5, 13 AND 16 OF RESOLUTION NO. 8228 WHICH FIXED THE
COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY AND
AUTHORIZED CERTAIN EXPENSE ALLOWANCES
WHEREAS, on June 25, 2003, Resolution No. 8228 was adopted by
the City Council of the City of Vernon to be effective on July 1, 2003;
Iand
WHEREAS, on March 16, 2004, the Finance Committee considered
the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
dated March 4, 2004, that the position of Fiber Optic & Traffic Systems
Manager in the Community Services & Water Department be moved to the
Light & Power Department and the classification title changed to Fiber
Optic Manager with no change in salary; and
WHEREAS, on March 23, 2004, the Finance Committee considered
the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance
dated March 18, 2004, establishing the classification and salary scale
for the position of Special Assistant to the City Attorney in the City
Administrator/City Clerk Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to
amend Schedule II, Exhibit "B," pages 2, 5, and 16 of Resolution No.
8228 to implement the reorganizational changes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to
amend Schedule II, Exhibit "B," page 13 of Resolution No. 8228 to
establish the position of Legal Counsel for Eduardo Olivo effective
October 16, 2003, to implement changes it made to the City Attorney
position on October 15, 2003.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
land correct.
SECTION 2: Effective March 1, 2004, pages 2 and 5 of
Schedule II, Exhibit "B" of Resolution No. 8228 are hereby amended to
eliminate the position and salary scale of Fiber Optic & Traffic
Systems Manager in the Community Services & Water Department and change
the classification title to Fiber Optic Manager in the Light & Power
Department with the same salary scale as indicated on the amended pages
2 and 5 which are attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit
..A.
Effective April 1, 2004, page 16 of Schedule II, Exhibit "B"
of Resolution No. 8228 is hereby amended to create the position and
salary scale for the position of Special Assistant to the City Attorney
in the City Administrator/City Clerk Department as indicated on the
amended page 16 which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as
Exhibit "A."
Effective October 16, 2003, pages 13 and 16 of Schedule II,
Exhibit "B" of Resolution No. 8228 are hereby amended to correct the
classification of Legal Counsel and City Attorney in the City
Administrator/City Clerk Department as indicated on the amended pages
13 and 16 which are attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit
.NA. "
SECTION 3: The provisions of Resolution Nos. 8228, 8272,
8286, 8338, 8346 and 8364 not consistent with or in conflict with this
resolution are hereby repealed; in all other respects, Resolution No.

8228, as amended by Resolution Nos. 8272, 8286, 8338, 8346 and 8364,
shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
