Resolution No. 8421T 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 8421 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: CITY ADMINISTRATOR/ CITY CLERK (HEALTH, IT DIVISION AND FINANCE), COMMUNITY SERVICES AND WATER, FIRE, LIGHT & POWER (MGS) AND POLICE, PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code Section 2.31 and Government Code Section 37350, the City of Vernon may sell surplus property for the common benefit; and WHEREAS, on March 24, 2004, the Finance Committee considered the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated March 18, 2004, that property from the following departments be declared surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are damaged, obsolete, or in poor and irreparable condition and are therefore no longer useful to the needs of the City: 1. City Administrator/City Clerk (Health, IT Division and Finance), more particularly described on Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 2. Community Services & Water Department, more particularly lidescribed on Exhibit "B" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 3. Fire Department, more particularly described on Exhibit "C" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and 4. Light & Power Department (MGS), more particularly described on Exhibit "D" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and 5. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby Ifinds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true land correct. SECTION 2: In accordance with Government Code Section 37350 land Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property described in the attached Exhibits "A," "B," "C," "D" and "E" is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon. SECTION 3: The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to contract with an auction company, to obtain bids or to make other arrangements for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. Make separate entries for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap items; if non-ferr- ous, indicate type (bronze, brass, copper, etc.) and derivation (valve parts hose couplings, bare or insulated wire, etc.) Send one copy to purchasing department when items are available for disposal , or at the close of each fiscal year.
