RESOLUTION NO. 8495
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON RESCINDING THE CITY OF VERNON UTILITIES
DEPARTMENT PUBLIC BENEFITS PROGRAMS AND REPEALING
RESOLUTION NOS. 7511, 7632, 7771 AND 7899
WHEREAS, on March 21, 2000, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7511 approving the City of Vernon
Utilities Department Public Benefits Programs ("Public Benefits
JPrograms") and implementing the Energy Audits and the Energy Education
and Demonstration Workshops sections of the Programs; and
WHEREAS, on September 19, 2000, the City Council of the City
of Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7632, as amended by Resolution No.
7771 on May 23, 2001, which approved the implementation of the Customer
Incentive and the Customer Directed Program sections of the Programs;

WHEREAS, on January 22, 2002, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7899 approving an update to the Programs
to provide a more concise description of the four programs that have
all been implemented and to eliminate the Equipment Loans as a project
in the area of energy efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the existing Programs are funded by the Public
Benefits Charge collected directly from customers; and
WHEREAS, the City's staff has determined that the elimination
of the Programs to replace them with a new project that will benefit
the City and increase its employment base will enhance its ability to
(serve the community, thereby benefiting the health and welfare of
Vernon's citizens; and
WHEREAS, on July 14, 2004, the Public Benefits Resource
1 Committee recommended that the City Council rescind the Programs and
2 repeal Resolution Nos. 7511, 7632, 7771 and 7899.
3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
4 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
5 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
6 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
7 and correct.
8 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
9 rescinds the City of Vernon Utilities Department Public Benefits
10 Programs and specifically repeals Resolution Nos. 7511, 7632, 7771 and
11 7899.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
14
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
