Resolution No. 8546A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON COMMENDING CHARLA J. DUNCAN FOR HER
MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF VERNON
Wl'HEREAS, CHARLA J. DUNCAN was employed by the City of Vernon from
July 1, 1979; and
WHEREAS, CHARLA J. D UNCAN will retire from the service of the City of
Vernon on October 13, 2004; and
WHEREAS, CHARLA J. DUNCAN was hired by the City of Vernon as a
Senior Utility Clerk in the City Administrator/City Clerk Department on July 1, 1979,
transferred to the Health and Environmental Control section of the City Administratorl City Clerk
Department on February 1, 198 1 and advanced to the position of Secretary on July 1, 198 /; and
WHEREAS, CHAR L 4 J. DUNCAN has faithfully served the City of Vernon
for approximately 25years, and her loss will be deeply felt by the City of Vernon; and
WIHEREAS, CHARLA J. DUNCAN has achieved 2 1 years of perfect
attendance and has been instrumental in (a) implementing and managing several Environmental
Health programs including, but not limited to, Food Safety, Underground Tanks, Hazardous
Materials, Backflow Prevention; (b) developing and administering a computeri.Zed Health Permit
Billing and Tracking System as well as tracking and maintaining animal control services and
licensing; and (c) managing the equipment and supplies for the Health Department section; and

WHEREAS, CHARLA. J. D UNCAN has been an asset to the development of
the Health Department section and has dedicated her time, effort and energy in providing
outstanding support services to various positions within the section and specifically to the Director of
Environmental Health; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to commend
CHARLA J. D UNCAN for her high personal dedication to the City of Vernon as evidenced by
her long and outstanding service to the City and wishes to invite recognition of her contributions and
achievements.
NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF VERNONAS FOLLOWIS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon takes this opportunity to
commend CHARLA J. D UNCAN for her many years of devoted service to the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon wishes CHARLA J.
D UNCAN continued success in whatever endeavors she may undertake.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon shall certi
6 the passage of this
resolution and present a certified copy thereof to CHARLA J. D UNCAN and that thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
