RESOLUTION NO. 8571
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND ADOPTING A REVISED CITY OF
VERNON MASTER PLAN OF STREETS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted a
Master Plan of Streets for the City of Vernon (the "Master Plan") on
September 1, 1964, as amended on April 1, 1986; and
WHEREAS, on June 16, 1992, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 6120 approving and adopting a revised
Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Community Services & Water is
proposing four revisions to the Master Plan, as set forth in the map
attached as Exhibit A and incorporated by reference and as shown in a
more detailed diagram on Exhibit B which is attached hereto and
incorporated by reference. The revisions are as follows:
a. Increasing ultimate right-of-way and roadway widths to
accommodate future traffic demands and improve transportation flow in
the City for Soto Street from Bandini Boulevard to 26th Street, and for
26th Street from Soto Street to 400 feet east of Soto Street;
b. Widening Atlantic Boulevard from the Los Angeles River
to District Boulevard (Atlantic Bridge over the Los Angeles River) and
widening Atlantic Boulevard from District Boulevard to 52"d Drive, to
accommodate the new bridge;
C. Increasing the right-of-way width of Washington
Boulevard from the City limit to Downey Road to match existing
conditions west of this segment; and
d. Deleting Packers Avenue, Alcoa Avenue to 120 feet east

of Downey Road segment, in anticipation of a planned street vacation;
and
WHEREAS, the revisions conform to the City of Vernon General
Plan; and
WHEREAS, by letter dated October 14, 2004, Bruce V.
Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City Clerk, has recommended that the
amendments to the Master Plan be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and adopts the revised Master Plan of Streets for the City of
Vernon as set forth in Exhibit A (map) and Exhibit B (detail).
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of November, 2004.
