A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 8592 REGARDING AN
EQUIPMENT PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH 911 VEHICLE. COM
FOR EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

7 WHEREAS, on November 3, 2004, the City Council of the City
8 of Vernon adopted Resolution No. 8592 approving an Equipment Purchase
9 Contract, in form, with 911Vehicle.com for the removal and
10 installation of emergency equipment in four (4) Police Department
11 vehicles; and
12 WHEREAS, following the City Council's approval of the
13 Contract, but before an actual Contract was signed by the parties,
14 911Vehicle.com advised the City that it was unable to comply with the
15 City's insurance requirements; and
16 WHEREAS, based upon the inability of 911Vehicle.com to
17 comply with the City's insurance requirements, the Police Department
18 recommended that the South Bay Regional Public Communications
19 Authority ("SBRPCA") provide the removal and installation services,
20 because it has performed minor related repairs and services for the
21 Department in the past, it is familiar with the City's vehicles and
22 requirements and it can provide the services for a lower amount; and
23 WHEREAS, by letter dated January 5, 2005, Bruce V.
24 Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City Clerk, recommended that a
25 purchase order be issued to SBRPCA and Resolution No. 8592 be
26 rescinded; and
27 WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Vernon believes it to
28 be in the best interests of the City to rescind its approval of the
"
1 Equipment Purchase Contract with 911Vehicle.com and select SBRPCA to
2 perform the services.
3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
4 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
6 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
7 and correct.

SECTION 2:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
9 rescinds Resolution No. 8592 adopted on November 3, 2004, and
10 specifically rescinds the Equipment Purchase Contract with
11 911Vehicle.com, it being the intent of the City Council that a
12 purchase order be issued to South Bay Regional Public Communications
13 Authority superseding the Equipment Purchase Contract.

SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
15 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
16 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
17 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of January, 2005.

regular meeting of the City Council duly held on Wednesday, January 19,
2005, and thereafter was duly signed by the Mayor of the City of
