A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY
FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: CITY ADMINISTRATOR/
CITY CLERK (FINANCE, RISK MANAGEMENT/PERSONNEL),
COMMUNITY SERVICES AND WATER, FIRE, LIGHT & POWER
AND POLICE PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON
CITY CODE

8 WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code Section 2.31 and
9 Government Code Section 37350, the City of Vernon may sell surplus
10 property for the common benefit; and
11 WHEREAS, on March 2, 2005, the Finance Committee considered
12 the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, dated
13 February 17, 2005, that property from the following departments be
14 declared surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are
15 damaged, obsolete, or in poor and irreparable condition and are
16 therefore no longer useful to the needs of the City:

City Administrator/City Clerk (Finance, Risk
18 Management/Personnel), more particularly described on Exhibit A which
19 is attached hereto and incorporated by reference;

2.
Community Services & Water Department, more particularly
21 described on Exhibit B which is attached hereto and incorporated by
22 reference;

3.
Fire Department, more particularly described on Exhibit
24 C which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference;
25
4 .
Light & Power Department, more particularly described on
26 Exhibit D which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference; and

5.
Police Department, more particularly described on
28 Exhibit E which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference; and

1 WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
2 that the property described in the above-referenced Exhibits be sold
3 as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.
4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
5 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
7 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
8 and correct.

SECTION 2:
In accordance with Government Code Section 37350
10 and Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, the City Council of the City
11 of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property described in
12 the attached Exhibits A, B, C, D and E is surplus to the needs of the
13 City of Vernon.

SECTION 3:
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to
15 contract with an auction company, to obtain bids or to make other
16 arrangements for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits
17 as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.

SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
19 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
20 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
21 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of March, 2005.
