RESOLUTION NO. 8700

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON RATIFYING THE APPOINTMENT OF JOHN KARNS AS
THE GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND RORY
BURNETT AS THE CITY ACCOUNTANT

6 WHEREAS, John Karns serves as the General Counsel of the
7 City of Vernon pursuant to that certain contract entered into by and
8 between the City of Vernon and Karns & Karabian pertaining to General
9 Couns~l services; and
10 WHEREAS, Rory Burnett serves as the City Accountant pursuant
11 to that certain contract entered into by and between the City of
12 Vernon and Gursey, Schneider & Co. LLP pertaining to City Accountant
13 services; and
14 WHEREAS, on March 16, 2005, the Finance Committee considered
15 the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
16 dated March 10, 2005, that the appointment of John Karns as General
17 Counsel and Rory Burnett as City Accountant be ratified; and
18 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
19 ratify the appointment of John Karns as General Counsel and Rory
20 Burnett as City Accountant pursuant to their respective agreements.
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
22 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
24 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
25 and correct.

SECTION 2:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
27 ratifies the appointment of John Karns to serve as General Counsel of
28 the City of Vernon and Rory Burnett to serve as the City Accountant

1 pursuant to their respective agreements.

SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
3 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
4 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
5 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of March, 2005.
