LLP City Accountant Contract No. 581 Dear Mayor and City Councilmen: ~/ l~ t'V .:, ". 41 I'? 1k9b<\ ~ QC, ~~ Honorable City Council City of Vernon 4305 Santa Fe Avenue Vernon, CA 90058 The City Council, on February 16, 2005 authorized the bidding of the contract for the Emergency Vehicle Preemption, Phase II, Contract No. 581. The bids were received and opened on March 16,2005. The results are as follows: Econolite Traffic Engineering and Maintenance, Inc. Republic Electric, Inc. $ 94,163.00 $108,600.00 The bids have been reviewed and checked by staff. The original engineer's estimate was $80,000.00 but an increase of costs from the previous contract was larger than anticipated. However, adequate funds are available in the Parcel Tax Fund. It is recommended that the project be funded out of this account rather than the City of V ernon Fire Department budget. I recommend the City Council allocate the amount of$94,163.00 from the Parcel Tax Fund and this contract be awarded to Econolite Traffic Engineering and Maintenance, Inc. Econolite Traffic Engineering and Maintenance, Inc. has been found to be a licensed, financially capable company with verified experience in the type of work in this project. r " Kevin Wilson, P .E.
