RESOLUTION NO. 8734
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON REJECTING THE BIDS RECEIVED FOR
CONTRACT NO. 567 FOR DISTRICT BOULEVARD AND
FRUITLAND AVENUE SEWER MAIN REPLACEMENT
AND STREET IMPROVEMENTS

6 WHEREAS, Contract No. 567 of the City of Vernon was approved by the City
7 Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to Resolution No. 8684, and sealed bids were open on
8 April 12, 2005; and
9 WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Samuel Kevin Wilson, Director of
10 Community Services & Water, who has reported to the City Council under the date of April 27,
11 2005, recommending that said bids for Contract No. 567 for the District Boulevard and Fruitland
12 Avenue Sewer Main Replacement and Street Improvements be rejected to the a lack of
13 competitive bids.
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
15 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
16 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and
17 determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct.
18 SECTION 2: The City Council ofthe City of Vernon does hereby reject the bids
19 received for Contract No. 567 in accordance with the recommendation of Samuel Kevin Wilson,
20 Director of Community Services & Water.
21 SECTION 3: All bids are rejected and the City Treasurer is hereby directed to
22 return to bidders any cashier or certified checks deposited with said bids.
23 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of
24 this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

The bids for the District Boulevard and Fruitland A venue Sewer Main Replacement (CMD Sewer,
Phase III) and Street Improvements, Contract No. 567 were received and opened on April 12, 2005. The
bids received are as follows:

$6,512,590.96
The Community Services & Water Department staff has reviewed the two bids. Due to a lack of
competitive bids, staff recommends that the two received be rejected.
