A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY
4 TO REFER MATTERS CONCERNING THE CITY'S LEGAL
REPRESENTATIVES) TO THE CALIFORNIA STATE BAR AND
5 AUTHORIZING THE RETENTION OF APPROPRIATE LEGAL
COUNSEL

7 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon from time -to -time retains the
8 legal representation for expert and general legal advise and services;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, the City Attorney has determined that there are
11 instances where the actions of its legal representatives violate the
12 sacred trust between attorney and client and that it is necessary to
13 report such actions to the California State Bar; and
14 WHEREAS, the City Attorney has determined.the need to retain
15 the services of legal consultant(s) to provide expert legal advice, as
16 needed, in connection with ethical conduct of attorneys and the
17 appropriate and fair manner in which to refer matters to the California
18 State Bar.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
20 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
21 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
22 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
23 and correct.
24 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
25 approves and authorizes the City Attorney to take all actions deemed
26 necessary to refer appropriate matters to the California State Bar.
27 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
28 approves and authorizes the City Attorney, or his designee, to take all

actions deemed necessary to retain the services of law firm(s) that meet
the City's criteria to advise the City on referring legal
representatives to the California State Bar, subject to ratification by
the City Council.
SECTION 4: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
