A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 598 FOR THE
ELEVATED TANK SEISMIC UPGRADE AND EXTERIOR
PAINT AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING SEALED
PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Vernon
Contract No. 598 for the Elevated Tank Seismic Upgrade and Exterior Paint; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has determined that it is in
the best interest of the City of Vernon that said contract be advertised in accordance with the
Vernon City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and
determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: Contract No. 598 for the Elevated Tank Seismic Upgrade and
Exterior Paint is hereby approved and accepted by the City Council of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to
file in his office at the City Hall of the City of Vernon a copy of said contract.
SECTION 4: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to
give notice, in writing, inviting sealed proposals or bids for the Elevated Tank Seismic Upgrade
and Exterior Paint in accordance with Contract No. 598 and in accordance with this resolution.
SECTION 5: There being no newspaper of general circulation printed, published
or circulated in the City of Vernon, the Acting City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice,
or cause the same to be posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit:
the northwest corner of 38t' Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast comer of Leonis
Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board located outside on the wall near the
second floor entrance to the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the
City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California.

SECTION 6: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to
post said notice forthwith and the first posting of said notice shall be not less than ten (10) days
before the opening of the bids for the proposed contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed
proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office of the Acting City Clerk of
the City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, CA 90058-0805, until the hour of 2:00
p.m. on the 2nd day of May 2006.
SECTION 7: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the
passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS (BIDS)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Vernon, (hereinafter "City") invites and will receive
sealed proposals (bids) up to the hour of two (2) o'clock p.m. on May 2, 2006 (according to the clock in the
City Clerk's office), for the furnishing to said City of all transportation, equipment, materials, labor, supplies
and services necessary for Contract No. 598, Elevated Tank Seismic Upgrade and Exterior Paint.
Proposals (Bids) shall be submitted to:

At said time, the bids will be opened in public and announced at the offices of the City. Bids shall
