RESOLUTION NO 9096
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPOINTING SHARON DUCKWORTH AS CITY
TREASURER
WHEREAS, on June 29, 2005, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 8790, as amended by Resolution No. 8802
on July 12, 2005, which, among other things, appointed Sharon Duckworth
to the position of Acting City Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, on June 21, 2006, the City Council adopted Ordinance
No. 1120 providing for the appointment and tenure of a city treasurer
to be established by resolution; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1120 shall become effective on
July 22, 2006; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon appointed
Sharon Duckworth the City Treasurer of the City of Vernon on January 4,
2006; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Duckworth has exercised the authority and
performed the duties of City Treasurer of the City of Vernon since said
appointment became effective on January 5, 2006; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to ratify all actions
taken by Sharon Duckworth as City Treasurer pursuant to its previous
appointment prior to the adoption of Ordinance 1120; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to formally appoint Sharon
Duckworth as the City Treasurer to serve in said position from
July 22, 2006, until such time as the City Council approves her
removal or appoints another person to said position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
appoints Sharon Duckworth to serve as the City Treasurer of the City
of Vernon from July 22, 2006, until such time as the City Council
approves her removal or appoints another person to said position, and
hereby ratifies its former appointment of Sharon Duckworth as City
Treasurer on January 4, 2006.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and ratifies all actions taken by Sharon Duckworth as City
Treasurer pursuant to her previous appointment from January 5, 2006
through July 21, 2006.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall be effective on July 22,
2006, the effective date of Ordinance No. 1120.
SECTION 5: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

Resolution No. 9096, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City

Wednesday, July 19, 2006, and thereafter was duly signed by the Mayor
of the City of Vernon.
