RESOLUTION NO. 9186
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5946 ESTABLISHING A
GAS MUNICIPAL UTILITY DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, on June 20, 1991, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 5946 establishing a City of Vernon Gas
Municipal Utility Department; and
WHEREAS, on July 11, 2000, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7566 amending Resolution No. 5946 to
incorporate the Gas Municipal Utility Department into the Utilities
Department and to appoint the City Administrator/City Clerk to be the
Chief Executive Officer of the Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
amend Resolution No. 5946 to re-establish the Gas Municipal Utility
Department as a separate department and not part of the Light & Power
Department (formerly Utilities Department) and to establish that the
Director of Light & Power is automatically the Director of the Gas
Municipal Utility Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
amends Resolution No. 5946 so that all references in the Resolution to
the Chief Executive Officer shall be deemed to mean the Director of
the Gas Municipal Utility Department.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
amends Section 2 of Resolution No. 5946 to read as follows:
"The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
establishes the City of Vernon Gas Municipal
Utility Department and appoints the Director of
Light & Power to automatically be the Director of
the Gas Municipal Utility Department.
SECTION 4: The provisions of Resolution Nos. 5946 and 7566
not consistent with or in conflict with this resolution are hereby
repealed; in all other respects, Resolution No. 5946 shall remain in
full force and effect.
SECTION 5: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

Resolution No. 9186, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City
of Vernon at a regular meeting of the City Council duly held on
Wednesday, December 13, 2006, and thereafter was duly signed by the
