RESOLUTION NO. 9221
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 9198 REGARDING THE
APPOINTMENT OF STEVE TOWLES AS ACTING POLICE CHIEF
WHEREAS, on December 20, 2006, the City Council of the City
of Vernon adopted Resolution No. 9198 appointing Steve Towles
("Towles") to serve as the Acting Chief of Police of the Vernon Police
Department, effective December 20, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 9198 inadvertently omitted addressing
the issue of back payment for the extra duties performed by Towles as a
result of the vacancy created by the resignation of the former Police
Chief for the period October 5, 2006 through December 19, 2006; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that Resolution
No. 9198 be amended to provide for the additional payment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
amends Resolution No. 9198 to add the following Section:
Section 5: The City Council of the City of
Vernon hereby authorizes the payment of $4,273.50
for the period of October 5, 2006 to December 19,
2006 during which Towles performed the duties of an
Acting Police Chief, Step 3, while being
compensated as a Captain, Step 1.

SECTION 3: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
