RESOLUTION NO. 9222
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING OVERTIME AS NEEDED FOR THE
VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT TO MAINTAIN THEIR LEVEL OF
SERVICE
WHEREAS, the reduction in the level of sworn and non -sworn
personnel in the Vernon Police Department impacts the staffing level
needed to maintain the level of services needed to provide policing
services to the businesses and residents of the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, by memo dated December 5, 2006, the Acting Chief of
Police has requested the authority to approve overtime, as needed, to
maintain the level of services needed; and
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2006, the Finance Committee Section
of the City Council of the City of Vernon considered the current staff
levels of the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
authorize overtime, as needed, for the Vernon Police Department up to
$300,000.00 and that said overtime be paid at the rate of time and one-
half for all police personnel, except for Group 2 employees who are
provided for in Resolution No. 5265.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Acting Chief of Police to approve overtime, as needed,
to maintain the level of services needed to provide policing services

up to $300,000.00 and that said overtime be paid at the rate of time
and one-half for all police personnel, except for Group 2 employees
who are provided for in Resolution No. 5265.
SECTION 3: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of January, 2007.
