The original scope of work was to patch and paint the three houses. The contractor has suggested that in lieu of painting the houses that insulated vinyl siding be installed. The Community Services Department reviewed the proposal to install siding and found that although the cost is significantly higher, based on the aesthetic improvement, ease of future maintenance and insulation value that the material will provide it is recommended that the vinyl siding be installed. The total cost for installing the siding at the abovementioned three houses is $38,000. Since the change order is in excess of $20,000, the City Council must authorize the change order. With this change order the City will be exceeding the budget allowance of $165,000 for each house as authorized in Resolution No. 9296. This authorized amount shall be increased by $15,000 per home if the change order is authorized. SKW/ca Enclosure
