A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
A LEASE AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF
4 VERNON AND ALVAREZ LINCOLN MERCURY FOR A SEDAN
FLEX FUEL VEHICLE

6 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon (the "City") has an ongoing need
7 to replace vehicles in its service fleet; and
8 WHEREAS, flexible fuel vehicles are designed to run on
9 gasoline or a blend of up to 85% ethanol and, except for a few engine
10 and fuel system modifications, they are identical to gasoline -only
11 models; and
12 WHEREAS, the City desires to lease a 2007 Grand Marquis LS,
13 4DR Sedan, Flex Fuel vehicle from Alvarez Lincoln Mercury for a period
14 of 36 months for a monthly payment of $670.46; and
15 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
16 determined that, pursuant to the provisions of subsection (a) of
17 Section 2.27 of the Vernon City Code, it is in the public interest and
18 necessity to enter into a lease agreement with Alvarez Lincoln
19 Mercury.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
21 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
22 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
23 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
24 and correct.
25 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
26 approves the Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement with Alvarez Lincoln
27 Mercury, in substantially the same form as Exhibit A which is attached
28 hereto and incorporated herein by reference.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Mayor to execute said Lease for, and on behalf of, the
City of Vernon and the Acting City Clerk is hereby authorized to
attest thereto.
SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Acting City Administrator, or his designee, to make
whatever nonsubstantive, administrative and/or text changes, upon
advice of counsel, to the Lease.
SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
directs the Finance Department to handle the processing of the signed
Lease to all parties.
SECTION 6: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Acting City Administrator, or his designee, to execute
any and all documents necessary or required to implement and carry out
the leasing of the vehicle consistent with the terms of the Lease
approved herein for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon and to
perform such other acts and deeds, as may be necessary or convenient
to effect the purposes of this Resolution and the transactions herein
authorized.
SECTION 7: The Acting City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
