RESOLUTION NO. 9317
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO THE LAW OFFICES OF
ROBERT S. GERSTEIN ON BEHALF OF MANUELA GIRON, IN
HER CAPACITY AS ELECTIONS OFFICIAL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON
WHEREAS, an appeal and cross -appeal was filed in the Second
Appellate District in Case No. B194722 wherein Bruce V. Malkenhorst,
Jr., the former Acting City Clerk in his capacity as Elections Official
of the City of Vernon, is an appellant and respondent (collectively,
the "Appeal"); and
WHEREAS, Manuela Giron serves as the City Clerk of the City
of Vernon and is the Elections Official of the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to authorize the payment of
attorney fees to the Law Office of Robert S. Gerstein for
(representation of Manuela Giron in her capacity as Elections Officer of
the City of Vernon for the Appeal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
land correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and authorizes the expenditure of General Fund monies to pay
the attorney's fees of the Law Offices of Robert S. Gerstein for
representation of Manuela Giron in her capacity as Elections Officer
of the City of Vernon in all matters in connection with and in all
phases of the Appeal.
1 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
2 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
3 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
4 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of May, 2007.
