RESOLUTION NO. 9340
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON ESTABLISHING A GENERAL GOVERNMENT
APPROPRIATIONS LIMIT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30, 2008 PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION
7910
WHEREAS, Section 7910 of the Government Code requires the
governing body of each local jurisdiction to establish, by resolution,
an appropriations limit for each year; and
WHEREAS, the appropriations limit for the fiscal year 2006-07
was $227,957,559; and
WHEREAS, the voters of the State of California passed
Proposition 111 on June 5, 1990; and
WHEREAS, under Proposition 111, a City is allowed to use
either (a) the change in California Per Capita income from the
preceding year or (b) the percentage change in the local assessment
roll from the preceding year due to increases in nonresidential
construction; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has posted a notice indicating that
documentation used in the determination of the appropriations limit
provided for herein has been available for inspection by the public for
at least fifteen (15) days from and after May 21, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
intends to establish the appropriations limit for the fiscal year 2007-
2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
1 establishes $251,277,617 as the amount of the appropriations limit for
2 the fiscal year 2007-2008 in accordance with the provisions of
3 Proposition 111. The computation is attached hereto as Exhibit A and
4 incorporated by reference.
5 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon approved
6 a budget by adopting Resolution No. 9341 on June 25, 2007, which will
7 not exceed the appropriations limit for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
8 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
9 declares that the budget established by Resolution No. 9341 complies
10 with the requirements of Government Code Section 7910.
11 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
12 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter
13 the same shall be in full force and effect.
14 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of June, 2007.
