A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 9362 BY AMENDING
SECTION 10b AND AMENDING SALARY SCHEDULE NOS. VI
4 and XIV TO SAID RESOLUTION REGARDING THE
5 COMPENSATION, COSTS AND BENEFITS OF ITS EMPLOYEES
6 WHEREAS, on July 16, 2007, Resolution No.. 9362 was adopted
7 by the City Council of the City of Vernon amending and restating
8 Salary Resolution No. 9342 to be effective on July 8, 2007 (the
9 "Salary Resolution"); and
10 WHEREAS, Schedule VI, Exhibit F, of the Salary Resolution
11 provides for the positions and salary scales of positions within the
12 Finance Department; and
13 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
14 create the positions of Internal Control Manager and Controller with
15 appropriate salary scales for said positions and to provide new salary
16 scales for the positions of Assistant Finance Director and Finance
17 Director in the Finance Department; and
18 WHEREAS, Schedule XIV, Exhibit N, of the Salary Resolution
19 provides for the positions and salary scales of positions within the
20 Police Department; and
21 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
22 increase the salary scale for the position of Police Officer in the
.23 Police Department by six percent (6%); and
24 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to
25 amend Schedules VI and XIV, Exhibits F and N, respectively, of the
26 Salary Resolution to implement the aforementioned changes; and
27 WHEREAS, Subsection b of Section 10 of the Salary Resolution
28 provides for mileage reimbursement in the sum of forty-five cents
1 (45G) for employees; and
2 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to
3 increase the mileage reimbursement amount in accordance with the 2008
4 optional standard mileage rates used by the Internal Revenue Service
5 to fifty and one-half cents (50.5G).
6 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
7 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
8 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
9 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
10 and correct.
11 SECTION 2: Effective January 22, 2008, Schedule VI,
12 Exhibit F, of the Salary Resolution is hereby amended as indicated on
13 Exhibit A which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by this
14 reference to implement a new salary scale for Finance Director
15 classification.
16 SECTION 3: Effective January 28, 2008, Schedule VI,
17 Exhibit F, of the Salary Resolution is hereby amended as indicated on
18 Exhibit A to implement the establishment of new positions within the
19 Finance Department of Internal Control Manager and Controller with the
20 appropriate salary scales and to implement a new salary scale for the
21 Assistance Finance Director in the Finance Department.
22 SECTION 4: Effective February 17, 2008, Schedule No. XIV,
23 Exhibit N, of the Salary Resolution is hereby amended as indicated on
24 Exhibit B which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by this
25 reference to implement an increase for Police Officer classification.
26 SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
27 amends subsection b to Section 10 of the Salary Resolution to read as
28 follows:

1 b. Personal Vehicle Allowance.
2 In addition to the salaries set forth in the attached
3 schedules, certain employees serving in specified classifications
4 shall receive, when using their own motor vehicles in the service of
5 the City, an additional sum per month as provided for in Schedule
6 XVIII, Exhibit R.
7 Employees who, with Department Head approval, use their
8 personal automobile during the performance of their assigned duties
9 shall be compensated with an automobile allowance as provided for
10 herein. In the event that the automobile allowance for a particular
11 month provides less than fifty and one-half cents (50.50) a mile
12 reimbursement or, if no automobile allowance is provided, then the
13 employee shall receive -a sum equal to fifty and one-half cents (50.50)
14 a mile for reimbursement for use of his/her personal automobile and
15 said sum shall be based upon actual miles traveled by said automobile.
16 SECTION 6: The provisions of Resolution Nos. 9362, 9373,
17 9389, 9453, 9469 and 9491 not consistent with or in conflict with this
18 resolution are hereby repealed; in all other respects, Resolution Nos.
19 9362, 9373, 9389, 9453, 9469 and 9.491 shall remain in full force and
20 effect.

SECTION 7: The City
Clerk of the City of Vernon shall

certify to the passage of this
resolution, and thereupon and
3
thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
