RESOLUTION NO. 9552
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND ADOPTING A MASTER PLAN OF
STREET TREES
WHEREAS, the Director of Community Services & Water has
recommended the adoption of a Master Plan of Street Trees to serve as a
guide to condition developers to install appropriate trees along their
frontages as well as to provide a strategy for installing trees as part
of street improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, in general, the Master Plan of Street Trees proposes
trees be installed only on arterials and collectors and not on local
streets in order to avoid excessive maintenance responsibilities in
areas with less traffic volume; and
WHEREAS, the Master Plan of Street Trees conforms to the City
of Vernon General Plan; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 15304, Minor Alterations to
Land, of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CFQA") Guidelines,
the adoption of the Master Plan of Street Trees is categorically exempt
from CEQA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds that the Master Plan of Street Trees is categorically exempt
from the requirement for an Environmental Impact Report pursuant to

Section 15304, Minor Alterations to Land, of the CEQA Guidelines and a
Notice of Exemption shall be filed with the County Clerk pursuant to
Section 15062 of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds that the Master Plan of Street Trees conforms to the City of
(Vernon General Plan.
SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and adopts the Master Plan of Street Trees for the City of
Vernon as set forth in Exhibit A (map) and Exhibit B (detail) attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be -in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of February, 2008.
