RESOLUTION NO. 9558
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON CANCELING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO
BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2008
WHEREAS, on January 22, 2008, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution Nos. 9533 and 9534 appointing Hilario
Gonzales and William J. Davis to the City Council office that was to be
elected on Tuesday, April 8, 2008; and
WHEREAS„ it was the intent of the City Council of the City of
Vernon to also cancel the election scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2008
at the same time that said resolutions were adopted; and
WHEREAS, since the explicit cancellation of the election on
April 8, 2008 was inadvertently omitted from Resolution Nos. 9533 and
9534, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to specifically
cancel the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, April 8,
2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The General Municipal Election scheduled to be
held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, is hereby cancelled, and the City
Clerk is hereby directed to notify the Los Angeles County Registrar of
Voters of the cancellation of the election.
I SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
2 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
3 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
4 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of February, 2008.
