RESOLUTION NO. 9563
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 9542 BY AMENDING
SECTION 9 AND SCHEDULE D OF SAID RESOLUTION AND
DELETING SECTION 6.3.4 RESPECTING VACATION POLICIES
FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND REPEALING
ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
WHEREAS, on February 4, 2008, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 9542 amending and restating Resolution
No. 8764 adopted on June 29, 2005, which established the vacation
policies, holidays and "in lieu" holidays for employees of the City of
Vernon (the "Vacation Resolution"); and
WHEREAS, the City desires to amend the Vacation Resolution to
renumber Section 9, Accumulation of Vacation Benefits, correct Schedule
D relating to miscellaneous office personnel in the Police Department
and deleting Section 6.3.4 relating to Fire Department shifts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: Section 9 of the Vacation Resolution is hereby
amended as indicated on Exhibit A which is attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 3: Schedule D of the Vacation Resolution is hereby
amended as indicated on the Schedule D which is attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 4: Section 6.3.4 of the Vacation Resolution is hereby
deleted in its entirety.

SECTION 5: The provisions of Resolution No. 9542 not
consistent with or in conflict with this Resolution, are hereby
repealed; in all other respects Resolution No. 9542 shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.

SECTION 9: Accumulation of Vacation Benefits
9.1 Vacation or other benefits provided for herein for any
employee of the City of Vernon shall be accumulated from calendar year
to calendar year, and shall be compensated for if not utilized during
IIsaid period (s).
9.2 Miscellaneous employees, sworn safety personnel in the
Fire Department and sworn management personnel in the Police Department
shall be permitted to accumulate and carry over to the next calendar
year a maximum number of hours equal to the number of hours the employee
accrued during the immediately preceding year. In or about January of
each year, miscellaneous employees, sworn safety personnel in the Fire
Department and sworn management personnel in the Police Department shall
be compensated for unused accrued vacation benefit in excess of the
allowed accumulated amount referenced above.
9.3 Vacation is computed on the basis of time earned during
Ithe prior working year. No employee while on leave of absence or leave
without pay status may earn vacation credit except where the leave has
been adjudged eligible for duty disability.
9.4 Vacation leave will be reduced in proportion to the
length of leave (excluding leave of absence for duty disability) during
the prior working year.
9.5 Commencing April 1, 2007, vacation leave earned will be
determined by dividing eligible hours by 365 days and then multiplying b�
the number of days eligible for regular yearly vacation leave days based
on years of service as set forth in the attached schedules. Any
fractions will be rounded off to the nearest whole number of days.
