RESOLUTION NO. 9571
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON REJECTING THE BID RECEIVED FOR CONTRACT NO.
603, APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 611 FOR THE DESTRUCTION
OF WELL 18 AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING SEALED
PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH
WHEREAS, on October 15, 2007, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 9441, authorizing the advertisement for
bids for Contract No. 603 for the Destruction of Well 18; and
WHEREAS, one competitive bid was received in response to
said advertisement for an amount in excess of the Department's
estimate; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
reject the bid received for Contract No. 603; and
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the
City of Vernon Contract No. 611 for the Destruction of Well 18; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Vernon that
the bid received for Contract No. 603 be rejected and said contract be
revised and re -advertised in accordance with the Vernon City Code as
Contract.No. 611.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
rejects the bid received for Contract No. 603 for the Destruction of

SECTION 3: Contract No. 611 for the Destruction of Well 18
is hereby approved and accepted by the City Council of the City of
(Vernon.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
directed to file in the office at the City Hall of the City of Vernon
ja copy of said contract.
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed proposals or bids
for the Destruction of Well 18 in accordance with Contract No. 611 and
in accordance with this resolution.
SECTION 6: There being no newspaper of general circulation
printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be
posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to
wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the
northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the
bulletin board located outside on the wall near the second floor
entrance to the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of
California.
SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of said
notice shall be not less than ten (10) days before the opening of the
bids for the proposed contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed
proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office
of the City Clerk of the City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
Vernon, CA 90058-0805, until the hour of 2:00 p.m. on the 30th day of

1 April, 2008.
2 SECTION 8: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
3 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter.
4 the same shall be in full force and effect.
5 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of March, 2008.
