EXHIBIT A
[Date]
To: The Honorable Mark DeSaulnier, Chair
and Members of the Assembly Committee on Transportation
RE: AB 2546 (De La Torre) — Support
Dear Chair DeSaulnier:
[Organization — and brief description] supports AB 2546, by Assemblymember De La Torre,
which would decrease harmful pollution by including tailpipe emissions as part of the California
Air Resources Board's reporting requirements. [Why this fits into your organization's vision —
or relates to issues that your organization has championed in the past].
Under existing law, tailpipe emissions and other emissions emanating directly from motor
vehicles are not required to be reported under the Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Information and
Assessment Act. Stationary sources, however, are currently required to report the types and
quantities of certain substances their facilities routinely release into the air. The exclusion of
locomotives and engine -propelled equipment results in the underreporting of emissions,
therefore preventing appropriate remediation efforts in communities that are significantly
impacted by dangerous contaminants.
AB 2546 will help to provide cleaner air in our communities. No Californian should be exposed
to a toxic environment in their homes and for this reason we support this bill.
We respectfully urge your "aye" vote on AB 2546.
Sincerely,
