Resolution No. 96470 3 4 5 6 7 rem 9 10 11 12 13 OEM 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO-. -9-6 4-7- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A LETTER AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND EK & EK, LLC REGARDING PUBLIC RELATIONS WHEREAS, the City of Vernon desires to retain the services of a public advocacy consultant to assist the City with community outreach to neighboring communities and public relations services on behalf of the City_relating to the South East Region Energy Project (the "Services"); and WHEREAS, the City has determined that EK & EK, LLC ("EK"), a public advocacy firm, possesses the technical knowledge and expertise to furnish the Services required by the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has determined that, pursuant to the provisions of subsection (a) of Section 2.27 of the Vernon City Code, it is in the public interest and necessity to enter into an agreement with EK setting forth the terms and conditions for the performance of the Services to enhance services provided to the Vernon community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby approves the Letter Agreement for professional services with EK, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated 2 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 3 authorizes the Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tem to execute said Letter Agreement 4 for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon and the City Clerk is hereby 5 authorized to attest thereto. 6 SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 7 directs the City Clerk, or her designee, to send a fully executed 8 Letter Agreement and a check for Eight Thousand Dollars and No Cents 9 ($8,000.00) to: 10 EK & EK, LLC Attn. Make inquires with (i) elected, appointed and administrative officials as appropriate to perform the work described in this letter; 6. Provide and execute a strategy, directly represent and educate opinion leaders within but not limited to the following the City of Los Angeles, South East Corridor Municipalities, State Senate and Assembly members for the region and the County of Los Angeles; 7.
