RESOLUTION NO. 9666
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND ADOPTING A BRANDING CAMPAIGN
PLAN THE CITY AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS
NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE PLAN
WHEREAS, the Director of Industrial Development has
recommended that the City of Vernon (the "City") adopt a public
relations branding campaign (the "Plan") for the City; and
WHEREAS, the Plan shall be for one year and the scope of
work shall consist of, but shall not be limited to, advertising
(print, TV, outdoor and mail) and website development at a full plan
cost for a not to exceed sum of $1,285,375.00; and
WHEREAS, -the City's Plan will assist in improving the
public's awareness and understanding of the City and will enhance the
image of the City, which will in turn help as the City continues its
development of the Southeast Region Energy Project and other future
projects; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of the Plan is necessary to facilitate
the further development of the City of Vernon as well as attracting
businesses to the City, thereby benefitting the citizens, residents,
and employees in the City and the surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, the Plan will assist in improving the City's
relationship and the support of surrounding communities for projects
within the City which are necessary for its further development and
will create goodwill for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
further finds and determines that the Plan is in the best interests of
the City of Vernon, is necessary for the further development of the
City and constitutes a reasonable expenditure of public funds.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and adopts the Plan and authorizes the Director of Industrial
Development to conduct the Plan and to take such actions as may be
necessary or convenient to carry out and implement the Plan and
transactions authorized herein.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of July, 2008.
