1 2 3 4 5 7 8 9 10 11 11PA 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 RESOLUTION NO. 9667 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING AND ADOPTING A COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR THE CITY AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Director of Industrial Development has recommended that the City of Vernon (the "City") adopt a public relations community outreach program (the "Program") for the City; and WHEREAS, the Program's promotional campaign will consist of school parent center donations (approximately $10,000.00), community science days in three locations (approximately $135,000.00), "summer of fun" community pool program (approximately $165,000.00), and the use of school district facilities program (approximately $40,000.00) for a total not to exceed sum of $350,000.00; and WHEREAS, the Program's promotional campaign will consist of, but not be limited to, Vernon emblems on coffee pots at parent centers, banners at science days sponsored by the City, signs on walls near school pools and signs on fences of school district facilities; and WHEREAS, the City's Program will assist in improving the public's awareness and understanding of the City and will enhance the image of the City, which will in turn help as the City continues its development of the Southeast Region Energy Project; and WHEREAS, the adoption of the Program is necessary to facilitate the further development of the City of Vernon as well as attracting businesses to the City, thereby benefitting the citizens, residents, and employees in the City and the surrounding communities; 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 and WHEREAS, the Program will assist in improving the City's relationship and the support of surrounding communities for the Southeast Region Energy Project which is necessary for its further development and will create goodwill for the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby further finds and determines that the Program is in the best interests of the City of Vernon, is necessary for the further development of the City and constitutes a reasonable expenditure of public funds.
